My BF and I have recently given a try at lamp making. Never in all of our planning and ideas did we come up with anything as creative as chaos lamp. I love it, especially coupled withe the green wall. Check out some of Julianna Holowka’s other lamps at her etsy shop.

Most of my gocco prints are fairly simple with one to two colors. I am completely inspired by the work that inkdesigner has done. I love the colors and layers in his designs. I only wished I were as organized as him. Here are few pieces available at his etsy shop.

I stumbled upon the blog, the etsy shop and the flickr account of 25 year old australian graphic designer Lara via Print & Pattern. I have a crush on her pattern work. *sigh*

Also good to note, she got her mini cards (featured in the last picture) printed at Moo, which offers 100 mini cards (business cards pretty much) with the option of up to 100 different designs for $25 (shipping included).

I’m inspired to start doing more with my cards this year. Freelancing has allowed me an open schedule leaving key time to focus on my own personal projects. I am going to use this blog to chronicle my journey into creating work that i love. We moved into a great new place in Fremont at the beginning of the month. The selling point to win over this little crafting heart? It wasn’t the hardwood floors or the big leaded windows. It was my own sewing room in the slightly crusty unfinished basement. Heck yes! It was the first room to get set up. Check out the pics.

Alberta

During a weekend trip to Portland a friend and i discovered the Alberta Arts District. Within five mintues of walking down the gift shop, bar, restaurant and art studio lined street we had both vowed to moved to the area within two years to open our own shop and restaurant.

According to A dirt cheep guide to Portland Oregon, the Alberta Arts District can be described as such,

Add equal parts eyesores and slick business, mix thoroughly. By “eyesore” I mean boarded up buildings, empty parcels overgrown with weeds. By “slick business” I mean vegetarian restaurants, vintage clothing outlets and coffeeshops. Hot with the artists too (cheap rent), and lots of galleries.

One of my favorite shops on the street is called Office. Self described as “a specialty design store, art gallery, and event space all wrapped up in a gorgeous 1950’s office environment.”
